Noob struggling with adding mods to Steam version

  • I bought MS Flight Simulator from steam and installed in my steam folder on my E drive. I am trying to install the Edinburgh mod. Tried creating a community folder and placing the files in there but no luck. Any ideas? Many thanks in advance.

  • I have the exact same problem. Went to AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulator\Packages\Community and dumped in there several packages, but when i turn on the game, I dont have the options to select any liveries and neither had Wellington NZ package changed anything.

  • I came looking for this information and the following (from the link posted by Exquisite above) helped me. I purchased the game through Steam, but I believe the info below will work for anyone looking for their 'Community' folder. I'm currently running 1.14.6.0.

    1. Launch the game and go to the Options page
    2. Click on General
    3. Down the left side, select 'Developers' and set Developer Mode ON
    4. At the top of the screen there will be some small menus. Go to Tools > Virtual File System
    5. The path of your Community folder is under "Watched Bases". There may be a number of items here - look for the one that ends with "Community".
  • I'm being repetitive, but anyway...

There are several mods out there that can take the strain out of managing your mods.

MSFS Addon Collector is the one I'm most familiar with , but I believe that MSFS Addons Linker has similar features.

MSFS Addon Collector is worth downloading just for the embedded pdf user guide.

The whole process is made much easier by either of these tools.

If you prefer the look of MSFS Addons Linker, there are several very instructive videos available on YouTube that should give you a chance to get to use the tool productively.
