Path to Community Folder Steam

  • One of the most frustrating things for some people can be learning the path to a file or folder. It actually intmidates some people to just give up. So if you're using Steam, and you want to use some of the awesome Liveries and scenery addons here is the path to your "Community" folder where you can place the items you downloaded after you unzip them.

    C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulator\Packages\Community

"Username" is your username you use to log onto your computer. So you can copy that path above and replace "Username" with your computer username and paste it in the address bar of your file explorer window and hit enter, and you're where you need to be.

  • Hi,

Thanks for the tip. I just want to mention something extra here.

You could also share the path including the %AppData% environment variable: %AppData%\Microsoft Flight Simulator\Packages\Community (Steam), or %AppData%\..\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Packages\Community (Microsoft). This path can be pasted to the file explorer and will open the folder without having to change any text (username) in the path.

The paths above work only if the installation was made at the default location. Mostly a tip for developers here: if you want to find out the actual Packages path, you can lookup the last line inside of the file %AppData%\Microsoft Flight Simulator\UserCfg.opt (Steam), or %AppData%\..\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\UserCfg.opt (Microsoft). It would look something like InstalledPackagesPath "<YourPath>\Packages" (you still have to add \Community yourself).

I hope you may find this information useful.

This is the exact same reason, I developed this :
    where-is-my-damn-community-folder-2mnZg.jpg?width=400&auto_optimize=mediumhttps://flightsim.to/file/1984…-my-damn-community-folder

The problem is that this path "C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulator\Packages\Community" is not the default path on everyone's config. Some people might have changed their path during installation.

What my app does is, it looks for the usercfg file that is created by the game. This file provides the location of the community folder. That's what it does, just read some lines.
