When starting Flight Sim 2020 the game redirects to Gaming Services in the Microsoft Store

  • When trying to load the sim it always opens the Gaming Services page in the Microsoft Store.

I have read some other forum posts where people have advised to go to Apps and features > Gaming Services > Details > Repair/Reset. I have tried rearing and resting Gaming Utilities and restarting my PC afterwards but the problem still occurs for me.

My only other conclusion would to be to reinstall Microsoft Flight Sim, however I believe I would loose all of the items in my community folder. I have tried copying these to another folder but the error message: Your organisation does not allow you to place this file here shows up. Does anybody know a way to keep the contents of the community folder for a reinstall or a way to copy the item to another folder.

If the only solution to the Gaming Utilities problem is to reinstall Flight Sim 2020 and there is no way to save the contents of the community folder, I would just have to take a screenshot of the folder and manually download each one again, which would take a few hours to do.

I have seen that other people have been having this issue so hopefully somebody had found a fix to the problem.

  • Don't really have a solution to your problem, but I can answer some of your questions.

I am pretty sure when you reinstall fs2020 that all your addons, keybindings, progress in bushtrips, stats etc. are not deleted. Someone else will have to confirm that though.

To manage all your files in your community folder I suggest "MSFS Addons Linker" by bad2000. What it does is that you can have all your files anywhere on your computer, and the program creates a shortcut to your addons in the community folder if that makes sense. I really suggest you use it. You can find it here: https://flightsim.to/file/1572/msfs-addons-linker

Hope this helped a little bit at least, and hope you get your issue fixed.

Thank you for that, hopefully someone can confirm this and I can do a reinstall to hopefully fix the issue. :)

  • Indeed a often seen problem. Maybe check these topics for a solution, there are some:

For your Community folder issue - maybe you can take the contents and drag and drop them to an external hard drive, USB stick, SSD/HDD. That should be working. Also make sure you're running with administrator privileges.

  • After speaking with Xbox Support I figured out that I had lapsed 3 updates, so I downloaded the windows update from this link: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

However this still didn't fix my issue so I was told to go to Settings > Apps & Features > Microsoft Flight Simulator > Advanced Options > Reset. After doing this I installed the game from the Gamepass app and it has launched fine and is currently installing. Note: this did reset my community folder so I am having to download everything again (however thank you to KaptenPanna for pointing out the MSFS Addon Linker to me which I am using in case something like this ever happens again).

Thank you for all of your help with trying to resolve my issue!

(I will put all the methods I have tried bellow so others can see if they work for them)
