Yoke and joystick movement

  • I have on several forums on several occations pointed out an error in msfs 2020 that's been a nail in my eye since release.

I play many flight simulators but msfs 2020 is the only one that has this error so before blaming me and my settings etc I want you to know that I have checked, double checked and triple checked that this is not an error on my part.

    The problem is this:

if you have setup your joystick to be fully linear, with no deadzones, and no curve, just 1:1 movement, then the virtual joystick should move just as much as your physical one, right?

What I explained above is the case in DCS, IL2, X-Plane 11 and aerofly FS2.

there must be an(other) error in msfs 2020s code that makes the virtual yoke move slow first, then fast because the surfaces (ailerons, elevators and rudder) do in fact move the way I expect them to (linearly).

  • First of all, I'll point out that your video was made a fair while ago - the calibration panel is quite different now.

The response of your joystick in mSFS2020 is largely a result of how you calibrate it. There are a number of videos on this topic, but I think you'll find this one the most useful:

MSFS2020 has probably the most versatile settings for peripherals of all the flight sims out there.

If this doesn't work for you, one of these might help:
