Microsoft Flight Simulator Coming to Xbox Series X|S Summer 2021

Microsoft Flight Simulator will be opening the skies to millions of new pilots on Xbox Series X|S in Summer 2021 and will be available via Xbox Game Pass on launch day, Microsoft announced. Microsoft also shared a brand new trailer yesterday, featuring Microsoft Flight Simulator in 4K on Xbox Series X.

It is furthermore confirmed that the console edition will also contain all DLCs already released for PC. Thus, the Xbox Series X|S players can also enjoy the already published World Updates on launch day. However, it is questionable whether the game will also released for the Xbox One. The trailer above only mentions Xbox Series X|S in its title - not Xbox One. At the end of the trailer it is also saying "Coming to all-new Xbox", which raises doubts as to whether the older generation of consoles will also be able to play the game. Microsoft originally announced the game for Xbox One at E3 2019.

  • I was hoping it would be sooner than that, not because I care about running MSFS on an XBox (indeed, I won't ever be buying another console), but because that's been pegged as the date for DX12 compatibility for the PC version. I do hope they pull that in to be sooner than 6 months from now... (The DX12 on PC part, that is.)
